What is it about photos?

I find myself writing this very first blog for the site, with a question. What is it about images and photos that captures people imagination? Almost every main event in our lives involves photos or people taking photos of one sort or another, parties, christmas time, weddings, family events, the cameras are out in force. More and more photos are being taken than ever before and the number of photos we take is growing. Gone are the limitations of 35mm film and 36 exposures, no more remembering to bring your digital compact camera and no need to worry about device space either, everyone is using their smartphones to do the job for them. It is just so easy and these phones are becoming more sophisticated as the manufacturers know only too well that the camera is one of the main features of the phone and is a key consideration for many purchasing a new phone. I would hazard a guess that there are probably more photos taken than phone calls made on most smartphones.
For me photos are just fascinating, they make time stand still, they give you a moment to reflect and share with others. I was married over 16 years ago and I've still yet to see all the photos from our wedding. I only wish we'd developed Captured images sooner.
